West Arsi is an emerging new coffee producing area in Ethiopia which is aiming to be independent coffee producing region (e.g. like Sidama, Yirgacheffe and Guji). Since coffee producing is relatively new in this region, the plants used have been planted within the last 20 years. Like vines, the coffee plant produces the best fruit when it is young/middle aged.
